Note: Make sure this activity does not take more than 10 minutes.
During this exercise, use the table that shows where the LEGO parts are located. Show students where to find this table and explain that it will help them organize and find parts in their boxes.
Say the name and color of a part from the upper section of the box and let students try to find it. When they pick the wrong part, name it so they can learn the difference.
Examples of parts you can ask for:
blue long pin;
black pin;
gray bush;
yellow half bush.
Explain that LEGO parts are not measured in centimeters, but in LEGO units. Show the measuring beam on the table and how it is used.
Ask students to find axles of different lengths. Alternate between even and odd lengths. Explain that axles with even lengths are usually black, while those with odd lengths are gray.
Finally, turn the table around and ask students to find a beam of a specific length from the box.
