Construction: If students find it difficult to build the robot, they can use the instructions from the previous lesson.
Programming: Explain to your students that the rotation sensor reports the result in degrees. Students may accidentally set the degrees as a number of rotations in the motor move block.
An exemplary solution to the task "Program the motor to rotate until the ultrasonic sensor “sees” an object in less than 60 cm. Check how much it has rotated and turn it back the same number of rotations. Be careful with the direction of turning."
An exemplary solution to the task "Move the sound block in such a way so that it plays “Detected” only when the ultrasonic sensor interrupts the loop block."
An exemplary solution to the task "Add a wait block for 1 second before each loop."
Courses and lessons with this Tutorial
This Tutorial is used in the following courses and lessons

Robotics with LEGO - Level 3.0 - Security systems
This is the fifth level of the Robotics with LEGO curriculum for students in fifth to twelfth grades.
In this level students will learn how to work with data measured by the sensors. The concept of Algorithm is introduced and the programs perform calculations without knowing the values beforehand. The programming blocks transfer data between each other via data wires. The robots are designed to address the problems of security systems. Variety of alarm systems are built and the physical principles of different security methods are considered.
