The initial task is just for warm up - to program the robot to follow the black line the same way they did in the previous lesson.
Afterwards they will learn how to program a 3 state line following.
In order to program successfully 3 state line following they have 3 tasks - to measure the reflected light over the line, on its' edge and outside of the line. Then the program should look like this:
It is possible to use just one motor for the turns, but in such cases they should pay attention to stop the other motor. Otherwise the robot will move forward.
