This is the fifth level in the Robotics with LEGO curriculum for students in third or fourth grade.
For the first time robots with steering wheels are built in this level. Those robots use one or two drive motors. The work of the differential and its usage in vehicles is explored. Students learn in-depth the working of the light sensor to create better line-following programs. The first two-wheeled motorcycle-robot is built.
We are programming this strange construction to move in a square. This is a basic task, but it is worth doing for a robot with motors placed in different directions.
A robot attachment placed on the right side of the LEGO Mindstorms Box robot chassis. It uses two gear wheel to move a level. The level could collect things.
If you get to a solution that is too complex you should always try to improve it. This is what we are doing here. Arriving at a solution for aligning to the wall that has become too complex.
