Here is what teachers should pay attention to while students are following instructions to build a robot.
Left and right
Watch for common mistakes. Students often confuse left and right or place pieces in the wrong orientation.
They may also misplace pins in a beam - for example, using the third hole instead of the fourth. Sometimes the pin is in the correct hole but on the wrong side of the beam (left instead of right, or front instead of back).
The role of the teacher
Avoid correcting mistakes immediately (unless time is limited).
Give students time to notice and fix errors on their own. This helps them develop attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Your role is to actively observe and stay aware of each student’s progress.
“How do I assemble this?” and “Is this correct?”
Encourage students to carefully compare their build with the instructions. Remind them to orient their model the same way as shown in the image and check if their construction matches what they see on the screen.
