In this video tutorial we demonstrate the importance of properly shielding and protecting the light/color sensors of your LEGO Mindstorms Robot Inventor robots. These principles generally apply for all kind of robots. The problem is that external light sources from the venue could change the behavior of the robot - like have you ever been to a competition venue where the lighting just makes the robot behave in different ways? - well this tutorial is for you!

This animation demonstrates the principle of aligning to a line with two color sensors and a LEGO Mindstorms Robot Inventor robot. This is a useful concept for FIRST LEGO League competitions where you want to know exactly where you are on the field and to achieve consistent behavior. In the course lesson you will also find a live video tutorial where we enter into more details about aligning. We align the robot to a line by moving both sensors slowly until they both see a black line. When one of them sees the line we move only the other. At the end we return the first sensor back.

In this short animation we demonstrate how the LEGO Mindstorms Robot Inventor Distance sensors could be attached to the robot and then use to stop at distance from a wall. This wall could be the border of the field or another mission model. We need an attachment, we need a sensor and we need the robot. This is an animation of a quick pinless attachment that is placed below the robot and is used to deliver parts, like the Container Mission model, to different parts of the field. In the live video in the lesson we explain more about the principles, while here in the animation you can get a quick overview of how it works and you can try to follow the same principles for an exercise.

With this animation we demonstrate an example for a quick pinless attachment that could be used to collect loops. Loops is one of the most common missions at FIRST LEGO League competitions. In this video tutorial we demonstrate the behavior of a LEGO Mindstorms Robot Inventor robot when we use the Motion sensor. The Motion sensor was also referred to as Gyro sensor in previous versions of the LEGO Mindstorms Robot. We do not enter into the details of the programming and you can download the programs from the course lesson, but we make a demonstration of how the robot turns to about 95 degrees when we try to turn it to 90 degrees, we explain why and we suggest a way to improve the behavior of the robot.

Programming the LEGO MINDSTORMS Robot Inventor for FIRST LEGO League competitions involves learning how to turn left and right with the robot. There are not precise turns. The robot will make mistakes, because that's what robots do. But nevertheless it is important to learn how to program the robot to turn. We are releasing an additional course that is focused only on programming and how to make the robot consistent in its behavior, but in this tutorial we stop on turning

This video tutorial is about flipping tires. We are using a LEGO Mindstorms Robot Inventor and the missing is from FIRST LEGO League 2020-2021 competition called RePlay. In the video you will see how to approach the two tires and how to flip them with an attachment. Then they must be returned back to the black circle.

Without the use of the sensors, make sure that you are at least using "set movement acceleration to slow". In this tutorial we will demonstrate why and how this helps us improve the accuracy and consistency of the robot.

In this video tutorial we dance with the robot. The goal of the mission is to reach the specific place on the FIRST LEGO League field and to Dance. It is suitable for students that are new and it gives every team a chance to accomplish at least on mission on the competition.

The bench mission was a video tutorial that we recorded several times. It was really hard to get it 10 out of 10. The reason was the shear complexity of the mission. There are three things that should happen in this mission at once which was extremely difficult. What you will see in the tutorial is how this attachment behaves

The bench mission was one of the most difficult we've encountered, especially when it comes to accomplishing the mission reliably. The goal of the mission is to push the bench down, lift part of it and leave 4 boxes at specific places. The whole concept of the mission is awesome. Here is how we did it:

10 out of 10 tutorials for the Slide mission was a challenge. There were a lot of glitches with different attachments that we built. At the end we have an attachment that is able to reliably pull the mini figures up, then forward,then down which.

The Slide mission the FIRST LEGO League 2020 is about the LEGO Minifigures sliding down the slide and the robot bringing them back to base. We must somehow bring then back do base. Do we push them on the Slide? Do we pull them? Or we could lift them. In this video tutorial we decided to pull the minifigures, but there is a catch.

This is a 10 out of 10 tutorial demonstrating the accuracy of a Flip Attachment for the FIRST LEGO League 2020 Cell Phone Mission. The flip attachment flips a phone. Moves forward and flip it. This is a tricky business. It might not work. The trick is to approach the mission model from the right angle. In the tutorial you will see a demonstration and will learn how such a mission could be accomplished accurately with a LEGO Mindstorms Robot Inventor robot and attachment with gear wheels.

10 out of 10 tutorials are about accomplishing missions in a reliable and repeatable way. In this video tutorials we accomplish the Step Counter mission 10 out of 10 times. We can push on the mission model, but if we push too hard we would lock it and there is no way back. So we use a slightly different approach. Check out the video to see how.

In this FLL video tutorial we accomplish the step counter mission. We use a LEGO Mindstorms Robot Inventor robot. The idea of the mission is to control the robot in a very precise way so that it could slowly push on the mission model and accomplish it. In the tutorial we demonstrated exactly this slow push, but in a different way.
