Are there any numbers between one and two?
Are there any prices between USD 1 and USD 2? There are things that cost one dollar fifty!
Have you noticed that the price of things at the supermarket which cost one dollar fifty is written as 1.50?
The zero matters
Be careful about the difference between 1.50 and 1.05. The first one means one dollar fifty while the second one – one dollar five cents (which is far less).
"One point nine, one point ten"
Sometimes students make a mistake when increasing the values they are looking for.
Decimals are counted in the following way
- 1 (one)
- 1.1 (one point one)
- 1.2 (one point two)
- 1.3 (one point three)
- 1.4 (one point four)
- 1.5 (one point five)
- 1.6 (one point six)
- 1.7 (one point seven)
- 1.8 (one point eight)
- 1.9 (one point nine)

1.10 (one point ten)NO! 1.10 is the same as 1.1 and 1.1000. The next value after 1.9 is 2.
