FLL 2023: 10 out of 10 Deliver, Push, Lift - Kufar out-of-box robot accomplishing M03, M15, M11, M04 Pro Preview

This is a 10 out of 10 video tutorial, in which we demonstrate how Kufar, a LEGO Education SPIKE Prime out-of-box robot, accomplishes M03, M15, M11, and M04 of the FIRST LEGO League 2023-2024 MASTERPIECE Challenge season ten times in a row!

As we said in the previous tutorial, Kufar executes several complex moves while navigating the mat. At the front, the robot features a scissor-like attachment triggered by rubber bands. At the back, there is a mechanism that carries a couple of mini-figures and the M04 art piece. Enjoy!

This is a 10 out of 10 tutorial for a few missions from FIRST LEGO League 2023 MASTERPIECE. We have to deliver and drop. We have to press down. We have to lift, and we have to also deliver a few other things. Four different actions in a single run from the base, and this is a 10 out of 10 tutorial, which means that we record how consistent and reliable the robot and the solution for the missions is. Let's see how it goes.

This is a long tutorial. And this is a long tutorial because it's a long mission. And four missions in a single run, it takes some time. As you can see, we precisely drop, then we press down, then we deliver. When we deliver, we deliver the Masterpiece along with a few other things like a minifigure there, I can see. And then we align and lift. After all the four missions are accomplished, we must return back to base. After returning back to base, we must arrange the field again as it was, and only after that, we start it again. The thing is that this takes a lot of time, and because this takes a lot of time, it's not worth keeping you here for the whole seven, eight minutes - All the 10 runs. But there are some important things that I should share about how we accomplish the missions. And after that, I'll just leave the tutorial continue without me speaking or sharing anything. It'll just be the recording showing you how consistent and reliable the robot is. So a couple of important things. First, always use the two sides of the robot. So, there is a front side and a back side. And you can see here that we use the front and the back at the same time in a single run, which is obvious at a certain point, and it gets easier with time. The next thing is, try to build the robot. You saw how here on the first run, it made a mistake. It couldn't accomplish one of the missions. From all the four missions, it couldn't accomplish one, which is, okay, it's not great, it's not terrible, but it's something. Even though it couldn't accomplish it, it returned back to base. Try to build it in this way. How do you build this? In the programming, you try to build the blocks in such a way that even if it makes a mistake, it will return back to base. In the tutorial for these particular missions, I've shared more about this. The other thing is one of the attachments, and you can see, so here, let's look at this. We precisely drop, then we lift, then we push down, then we lift, then we turn, then we deliver, then we align, and then we activate the attachment. Turn back, everything's perfect. What you should take from this tutorial is also the rubber band. So take a look at the building instructions for this attachment and how the rubber band is attached, because when the attachment is unlocked, two things are happening. We unlock the attachment, and after we unlock the attachment, the scissor mechanism automatically lifts this Light Show mission model because of the rubber band. There is a rubber band there and there is some pressure that is pulling on a beam and it helps us accomplish this mission. These are the two things. Now, I'll leave it to you. You can watch the rest of the tutorial and you can see how the robot accomplishes the 10 out of 10 and how consistent and reliable it is. Most of the time it accomplished all of the missions.

Hope this is helpful. Try to build the robot, try to build the attachments. Try to reproduce the behavior the robot with the real or the alternative attachments that are in the course. And this is how you learn. Try to reproduce the same robot. Watch till the end and I'll see you in the next tutorial.
