The teacher will prepare a field for you with a shape as follows:
The boxes (click here for instructions) are placed in the centers of the red zones. Your robots must launch from behind the Start Line and they have 60 seconds to collect as many points as possible. The number of points the robots have scored will be calculated after the 60 seconds according to the following factors:
- For each box placed on the green sector, you receive 20 points. The box is considered to be on the green field even if it only touches the edge;
- For each box placed on a purple sector, you receive 15 points;
- For each box placed on a blue sector, you receive 10 points;
- For each box placed outside a red sector, you receive 5 points;
- If your robot has returned behind the start line by the end of the 60 seconds, you receive 10 points;
- If a box is between two sectors, the robot receives the points from the sector with greater points.
You cannot touch the robot when you start the program. You can do several test runs on the field during the lesson.
Courses and lessons with this Tutorial
This Tutorial is used in the following courses and lessons

Python with LEGO Mindstorms EV3 - Level 1
The course introduces students to the programming language Python. We use LEGO Mindstorms EV3 Robots. Python is a popular programming language. It could be used for introducing students to programming, for academic studies, for developing machine learning algorithms and as a general-purpose language.
During the course, students learn how to read and how to develop Python programs. They use an Integrated Development Environment called Visual Studio Code. Robots are programmed to perform interesting and funny tasks like "bringing you water". The level ends with competition on a playing field with boxes.
