This lesson is quite similar to lesson 5 from A1. The difference here is that now the students know more about turning. They know about loops.

Try to recall with them if the last time they were doing this lesson they were able to clear all 4 obstacles. Challenge them to use what they have learned since then, or to clear all 4 obstacles and receive an award - continue to the task for robot slalom.
"The rocks" that the students have to clear will get stuck in the wheels of their robots. This will lead to different turns. Give some time to the students to figure out the problem and come up with a solution, but if this takes a lot of time then just tell them to place a barrier in front of the robot.
Students are not always careful and they do no start the robot from the same place each time. This could make them change the program. Make sure you observe their starting positions. If the robot is not completing its task the solution could be to change the starting position.
After completing the task with clearing the landing site, place two wheels at about 1m/40in and ask students to move around the wheels in the shape of the digit 8.
Courses and lessons with this Tutorial
This Tutorial is used in the following courses and lessons

Level A2. "Space exploration". Robotics with LEGO
The second level of the Robotics with LEGO curriculum for students in second, third or fourth grades.
A new sensor is introduced - the Ultrasonic distance sensor can help the robot avoid obstacles. Students work with new concepts like loop, degrees and medium motor. Robots can now do two different actions at the same time - while solving missions on a field, the third motor clears detected obstacles. The first robot with chain-treads is built.

Lesson 3 - Free building
Intro
Today we are building a robot, what would automatically clear the landing site.
Before a space craft lands on the moon, you send a robot to clear the landing site. Your robot has landed on the Moon and its task is to clear the site and to prepare it for the landing of the bigger space ship.
The robot lands slightly further away from the site and it must find its way to it. Regretably it road is blocked by rocks that can not be moved. The robot must go around them.
