Robotics with LEGO - Level 3.5 - Measuring tools

The sixth level of the Robotics with LEGO curriculum for students in sixth or seventh grade.

In this level, we introduce student-created myBlocks. Any functionality that is used in several places in a program is grouped into myBlock thus shortening the program's length. Students create blocks that return the result of calculations as an output parameter. Input parameters can change the calculations in the myBlocks. The robot constructions measure physical properties like linear or rotational speed, the fuel level in a tank, or length, area and volume.

Steering mechanism with LEGO Technic steering link

This is a steering mechanism made for LEGO Mindstorms EV3, which uses the Technic steering link to steer two wheels. To move, the mechanism uses a medium motor. This module can be combined with others to create a cool steering robot.

WRO Robot with a Ping Pong Balls Collecting Attachment - Full

This WRO robot is designed to collect a lot of ping pong balls in its container. It's built with LEGO Mindstorms EV3 45544 and 45560 sets. These are the LEGO Educational sets. The robot has two chains that collect the balls and push them into the container attachment. This is one of the larges robots we've uploaded at FLLCasts yet. You could learn a lot by following the building instructions and paying attention to the details of how this robot is built. All the alignment, all the connections. Really beautiful.

The Switch block used as a switch statement

Sometimes you need to evaluate the value of a sensor or some other data and depending on the value to execute one action or other. In a way we have achieved that so far, using the switch block, but we have had only two cases - if the statement is true do one thing and if the statement is false do another. However, sometimes we need more than two cases and then we use the switch block as a switch statement.

Natures Fury Buildings

Building instructions for the LEGO Mindstorms robot attachment used at the FIRST LEGO League Natures Fury Competition. This robot attachment takes two of the building and moves them without demolishing them. It is a good example of the use of gear wheels and worm gear. The gear wheels move levers in opposite directions.
