FLL 2024: Lift, Deliver - Nautiq accomplishing M01, M03 Pro Preview

This video tutorial focuses on accomplishing M01 Coral Nursery and M03 Coral Reef of the FIRST LEGO League 2024-2025 SUBMERGED Challenge using the Nautiq box robot (a LEGO Education SPIKE Prime robot). The run uses a pinless motor-powered attachment specifically designed to raise the coral tree to the coral tree support while delivering reef segments outside the launch area. This attachment was chosen after testing multiple designs, and it proved to be one of the most reliable solutions for this task.

The motor-driven lifting mechanism is mounted using long axle pins due to the gearwheel’s position, and a heavy brick is added on top for extra sturdiness, preventing the attachment from popping off during operation. On the side, a simple holder secures the three reef segments collected in previous runs for easy delivery during this mission. This combination allows the robot to lift the coral tree smoothly, place it accurately, and complete the reef segment delivery in a single, well-coordinated sequence.

In this video tutorial, we accomplish a mission called Coral Nursery. It's from 2024-2025, and we have this coral tree and we have to lift the coral tree and attach it to the support. The yellow axis is the support. So, we can get 10, 20 or 30 points in this mission model based on how we accomplish the mission. And we also have these corals that we have to deliver, but this is part of another mission. And we have to deliver them somewhere where they are touching certain parts of the mat and we deliver them there. This is the mission. Quite interesting, quite complex, quite difficult. We use our Nautiq box robot with a very interesting attachment at the front. Lets see how we do it. Move forward, start from base, move forward, lift and attach to the support while delivering the corals.

Let's see this again, but in slow motion. We move with the robot and we have this platform at the front that will lift the coral tree. Then, we activate the attachment because we must also lift the coral tree but just enough to put it on the support. So it's not lifting, and just pushing it is not enough. We have to also lift it to put it on the support. Additionally, on the side, we have a small container for the corals. One of the interesting things about this attachment is that we use this heavy brick and put this heavy brick on top of the attachment just to make sure that we have enough weight for the attachment to stay stable. It's a special brick. We've provided it in the sets that you can purchase - this is in the tutorial for the special parts. And it helps us move, keep the attachment in place and attach the coral tree on top of the support.

This is again an example of an attachment that could accomplish a mission with several actions. So it's like lift, but also lift in a special way. I hope this is helpful and I'll see you in the next tutorial.
