In this video tutorial, we focus on M10 of the FIRST LEGO League 2023-2024 MASTERPIECE Challenge competition. We use the Chain Monster, a LEGO Education SPIKE Prime robot, equipped with a three-axle attachment. The mission's objective is to lift the sound mixer sliders and position them precisely to score the maximum points. While the mission may seem challenging at first, once you understand how the attachment works and how to properly connect it to the robot, it becomes a breeze. Let’s give it a try!

In this video tutorial, we use the Chain Monster box robot to accomplish this mission model from FIRST LEGO League 2023 MASTERPIECE, where we have to lift these three parts, but we have to lift them in a certain order because in the end, we must have this center piece up, and the attachment is constructed in such a way that there should be an order in the way we move things. The middle one should be the highest. And that's not very easy to achieve, to be fair. When we release them, we should release them in a certain order. Let's see how we do this. We start from base. We move, we deliver one minifigure, and then we go for the mission model. That's also part of the run in which we deliver this orange minifigure on the left. How does the attachment work? Well, it's three axles. And these three axles, because they are with different length, they will push on the buttons from the mission model, and the middle one will be the highest. It's really not that difficult once you get it, but initially, thinking about it, it's like: 'How am I going to do this?' It's an attachment we place at the front of the Chain Monster box robot. It's a little tricky to get how to place it. It requires some practice, but once you have the practice, it's quite easy. When we start, what we want to do is to have these two axles free, not locked. It's a pinless attachment. We connect it with the robot, and then we start. We start from base. What you should be careful about with such attachments is whenever there is more than one-two moving parts, you should be careful about whether you start it the right way. Because there are some moving parts there in the attachment. I hope this is helpful. I hope this gives you an idea. Try to replicate it on your side. Try to build the same attachment with the same mission model, or an alternative or a real one, and try to reproduce the behavior of the robot.

FIRST LEGO League 2023-2024 MASTERPIECE solutions and review with Chain Monster box robot from LEGO Education SPIKE Prime
In this course, we demonstrate and explain example solutions for the FIRST LEGO League 2023-2024 MASTERPIECE competition using the Chain Monster box robot as a base, with custom-built attachments. Every year, we share our solutions and insights only after the season is over. The course is unique in its focus on multiple missions in a single run, showcasing runs that accomplish 3, 4, and even 5 missions. We then dive into the details of each specific mission. As you follow the course, try replicating the solutions to better understand the programs and explanations. This approach teaches students and teachers the principles of accomplishing missions in FLL robotics competitions and how to help your team score more points.
Before starting this course, we recommend reviewing the FIRST LEGO League robot game guide.
