Tohuru - LEGO SPIKE Prime Owl Robot

Tohuru, from Māori, means owl.

Tohuru is a SPIKE Prime robot that grips onto an edge and scans for the nearest object! It uses two Medium Motors to hold onto an edge between its wheels. Its head—made from an Ultrasonic Sensor—is mounted on a Large Motor, allowing it to rotate a full 360 degrees. And most importantly, it looks just like an owl!

Lesson 4 - Owl Robot

In this lesson, you’re going to build Tohuru – the LEGO SPIKE Prime Owl Robot. This robot imitates an owl: it grabs onto an edge and looks for the closest object nearby. Tohuru doesn’t like to be disturbed, so it will keep staring at the object until it moves away. Just like a real owl, it has a wide field of view—so nothing is safe from its watchful gaze!

Now it’s time to build the robot! After that, you can try it out using our program!
