When cutting the cables it is important to be very careful with the students. They can not make a great mistake, but they have to use scissors and knives to cut the cables.

TL. DR.
Cut one of the cables on one of the cars together as a group. Everybody should be watching. Then leave the students to cut the other cables.
Have fun
It is always "fun" to tell a student to cut a specific cable and when they do it to shout in a loud voice and all seriousness "No, no. Not this one". But it is difficult to pull this joke. It depends on the group and basically on you. But there is an opportunity for a few laughs in class so don't miss it.

It changes through the years so it might take some time for you to find it as Raspberry PI, motor drivers, power banks and h-bridges.. they change. Note that the course was designed to be led by a teacher with a decent knowledge in embedded hardware and software. This, on the other hand should not stop you, if you are curious.

Disconnecting cables from the controller
It is time to do the first destructive thing in the course. Disconnect the cables from the controller. After this step, there is no going back. This is the most important decision you will face. The world depends on you. The future of the universe depends on you. (But if you make a mistake you can always solder the cable back :))
