The "solutions and review" courses are structured in lessons. Each lesson looks at a different mission or set of missions from the competition. To prepare at home or with a team, you should:
- Watch the tutorial introducing the mission and how we've accomplished it (5-10 minutes)
- Read, watch and make sure you understand the rules of the mission (2-3 minutes). Discuss them with other team members.
- At this point you should understand the mission and how it could be accomplished.
- Decide how you are going to build the mission model:
- If you have the parts, then follow the building instructions for the original model. (~10 minutes)
- If you don't have the parts, then build an alternative model, if we've suggested one. It will require parts from the set. (~ 10 minutes)
- If you don't have the parts or there is no alternative model, then think of your own "Alternative Model" that mimics the behavior of the original model. Use any parts that you have. (~ 15 minutes)
- Build the robot that we've suggested. (~ 10 minutes)
- Build the attachment that we've suggested. (~ 5-10 minutes)
- Download the program that we've suggested to the robot. (~ 1 minute)
- If you've built the exact mission model as it is in the competition, then try to accomplish the mission.
- If you've built an "Alternative Model", then slightly modify the attachment and the program to accomplish the "Alternative mission".

You are currently using a Solutions and Reviews Course. And it is important to understand more about how you can use this course to prepare for the competitions. There are a couple of steps. First, in each lesson of the course there is a tutorial. Watch this tutorial as it will give you an idea of how we've accomplished the mission. It will take you about five to ten minutes, but it includes an example solution of the mission. Then, try to understand the rules of the mission. It will take you about two or three minutes. In each of the lessons, there's a tutorial about the rules of the mission. After that, try to think about how you are going to accomplish the mission. And that's the most important part here. You have three choices. First, you can build the original mission model - the one that's from the original competition. But this is difficult. This is difficult because probably you don't have the parts. And that's okay. If you don't have the parts, we might have suggested an alternative model. Try to build the alternative model that's suggested in the lesson. Or if there is still no alternative model because we are working on it, you can try to come up with your own alternative model. And that's the fun part. How do you build an alternative model for the same mission? Now, we have a tutorial below this that goes into more details about the alternative models and the alternative missions. But the point here is that if you have the original, build the original. If you don't have the original, try to accomplish a mission that's similar to the original mission. With a mission model that's similar to the original mission model. After that, you have the mission model. You build the robot. This will take you about 10-20 minutes. You build the attachment. You download the program to the robot, and you accomplish the mission. That's it. You know how to use the Solution and Reviews courses. These courses are designed to be helpful before the competitions, a few months before that, where you can go one by one through different principles of how you can accomplish different missions. They prepare you. They give you additional ideas of how you can build attachments, how you can build programs for different winning robots. That's it. Hope this is helpful and let us know how it goes.
