In this tutorial of the series we would get into more details on how the flywheel works, what's its purpose and how the whole attachment is triggered with the first rubber band.

"The devil is in the details". We are improving the Rubber band attachment with a Flywheel by introducing a few small, but important modifications that make the whole robot attachment more stable and reliable. With the conclusion of the series this attachment could be used as a basis for some very interesting STEM demonstrations on energy accumulation and conservation.

Many teams have followed the same idea as the ELM team. To build a LEGO Mindstorms attachment for the robot and to lift the truck very lightly. In this way they could more the truck and place it in the special region. See what the ELM idea was.

We show the principle of solving the next FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Nature's Fury 2013 competition missions. Again, without any programs, but just the principles of using one attachment for most of the missions.

The video shows why you should not build attachments such as "Crappy Active Attachment For SUV Box Robot". In the video one can see how the knob gear wheels start "jumping", once a force is applied to the lever. 

The third part of the series the goal is to extend the robot attachment so that we could solve the second part of the FIRST LEGO League World Class mission challenge - to take the loop.

In this video tutorial we would look at the mission run for M09. STRENGTH EXERCISE. The mission is to lift a heavy object in the air. And that could a complex mission. It requires to use gear wheel and the attachment should be quite strong. The tutorial contains only the mission run on the field. We accomplish a single mission. 

The attachment is now so advanced that we can do two tasks at once with it in order to solve the FIRST LEGO League 2014 World Class Search Engine Mission.

This video is part of a series where we show you how our Box Robot accomplished the M07 Swing mission 10 times. This mission has a black and white line parallel right next to it, the only thing you need to figure out is how to avoid the first supporting beam of the swing. The Dominator robot waits to be clear of the beam and then uses the x-y movement of its front mottors to position the lever so it pushes the swing loose. After that the robot moves back and is ready for action again.

In this tutorial, we would drive the scissors mechanism and there are a number of rules that we must follow

In the video we improve on the robotics mechanism for pushing the different blocks out of the robot container. We continue from the previous video.

Extend the previously build attachment for the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Nature's Fury competition so that we can move the Truck and Ambulance up and down. 

Sometimes you could just throw a ball from base and solve a competition. Or at least many teams think so. In this video we would explore a very simple attachment for throwing balls from base. Can you use this for other missions? - we think so. Check out the video. 

In the final video we explore how to trigger the release of the attachment with just a rubber band. The release is triggered with a gear wheel that rotates in a specific way. This saves speed, does not require additional LEGO Mindstorms motor and is precise enough for a competition. 

Next robot construction for holding and releasing balls from this container. In this video we discuss the improvements and how to use the chains to release one ball at a time.

One of the most interesting challenges in the series of FLL Competitions. Move a block and add additional floor on top of the block without damaging the construction. In this tutorial we would focus only this mission and we would achieve two movements with only one motor which makes the attachment quite powerful.

Improving the construction for the World Robotics Olympiad missions. The improvement is in the position of the sensor and the size of the balls container. 

Previously we caught the Truck with two rubber bands. The next step was to lift it. For lifting we used the Medium LEGO Mindstorms EV3 motors. In this video we are extending the attachment so that we could catch also the Ambulance. In forth video we would explore how to release both vehicles after transporting them.

In this second part we continue with the next few tasks from the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) 2013 competition. Using the same rubber band attachment we lift the house and collect a few of the humans and cargoes.

Build a similar mechanism to this one. Similar, but for your robot. This is the task for you. Try, give yourself half and hour or even an hour.

Connect the attachment to the box robot and find the correct number of rotations of the middle motor that would bring the robot up and forward and would attach it to the mission model.

Remember the passive/active attachment separation that we are making at FLLCasts.com. This applies for all the attachments and in this Episode, we are looking at how to use a passive attachment.  

How great is the great attachment for lifting that we built in this course? How many times can it lift the robot without making an error? How great are your attachments and how could you test them? - the answer is simple. Just try 10 times and they should work at least 9 of them as our attachment is.

The M08. AEROBIC EXERCISE is one of the very common types of mission in FIRST LEGO League robotics competitions. I think this pattern of missions was first introduced with the growing abilities of the participating students that were constantly reaching the maximum number of points. So the competition introduced mission that require a lot of time - 20-30 seconds, are time consuming and are complex. They requires a lot of moves.
