FLL 2023: 10 out of 10 Collect, Rotation work, Push, Lift - Kufar, an out-of-box robot accomplishing M12, M13, M15 Pro Preview

This is a 10 out of 10 tutorial demonstrating the consistency with which the Kufar robot accomplishes M12, M13, and M15 of the FIRST LEGO League 2023-2024 MASTERPIECE Challenge season. Kufar is an out-of-the-box LEGO Education SPIKE Prime robot, meaning you don’t need to connect attachments—just slide the brick into the attachment frames.

In this run, the robot collects the mini-figures using a rubber band mechanism, rotates the chicken with a gear mechanism, and pushes and pulls the M13 Craft Creator mission model.

In this video tutorial, we are doing a 10 out of 10 for two-three missions that are accomplished at the same time. We must take this look, we must do some rotation work and rotate the chicken, we must push, and we must pull. We do this with a single attachment. Single attachment with our out-of-box robot called Kufar. We've seen the attachment. Now, we are doing a 10 out of 10 discussing the advantages and disadvantages of this robot. 10 out of 10. It will take us four-five minutes. For this 10 out of 10, we have the out-of-box Kufar box robot. It's not a box robot, it's an out-of-box robot. And it has four different missions that it needs to accomplish. It's actually three missions, but one of the missions, it requires two actions, and it makes it like four different actions that the robot must do. Starting the robot again, we move. First, let's see how we take the loop. You saw this attachment on the front of the robot that takes the loop. These are missions 15 and 14 from the MASTERPIECE Competition, where we must collect. We can successfully collect loops, but we can also do this rotation work. Take a look at how it does the rotation work. We rotate the chicken on the left. Let's gather the field again.

Starting again. On the right, we have the other mission model, where we must push and at the same time pull - pull back. Now, you see when you are pulling back, we have this mechanism for unlocking and locking. It's this purple beam that's pointing forward. I think it's like five runs already.

No error here. The robot is quite consistent and reliable. It is always a good practice when you have two mission models that are right next to each other, to try to figure out ways to combine these two mission models. Try to build an attachment in such a way that you can combine these two mission models. You can see how here we combine one of the missions - Mission 12 with Mission 13 and Mission 15. It's like three missions with one single attachment. Always think in this direction. How do I group them? Because this saves time. What you could also see is that there is a rubber band. There is a rubber band, and it's a very interesting mechanism for taking the loop. We have the rubber band, and when we unlock the axle, it moves up and it collects. And how, when we unlock, the rubber band activates the attachment. So many runs and not a single mistake. Very consistent, very reliable attachment with a small robot that's built only with parts from the LEGO Education SPIKE Prime set. We've tried to keep it minimal here for this specific attachment and this specific robot. What could you take away from this video? First, the rubber band and collecting the loops. The rotation work is really interesting, and pushing is quite easy. But pulling back this attachment that we have on the front, is difficult. So take these three, experiment with them. Try to accomplish the missions, with these models or the alternative models.

I think we did more than 10. We did probably 11, 12, 13. It's more than 10 because we had so much fun just starting the robot and recording it, and it was so consistent and reliable. Hope this is helpful! And as always, I'll see you in the next tutorial.
